Total Self-Service Data Control

Because BookHaven never stores data on remote servers, you do not need to submit deletion requests or wait for customer support tickets. You possess instantaneous, 100% unilateral authority to export or wipe all information directly on your device.

1. Reader Sovereignty & Data Autonomy

BookHaven respects your unconditional right to own your reading history, annotations, and vocabulary cards. We enforce a zero vendor lock-in architecture: everything stored by BookHaven can be backed up or eliminated at any moment.

2. How to Export Your Entire Library & Notes (Data Portability)

To create an offline, portable archive of your reading progress, notes, highlights, and vocabulary:

  1. Launch BookHaven on your device.
  2. Tap the Settings icon in the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Scroll down to the Data & Backup section.
  4. Tap Backup Library (JSON).
  5. Select your preferred storage location (local documents, SD card, or share sheet) to save the .json archive.

This archive is formatted in human-readable JSON, enabling you to inspect or restore your records on any device running BookHaven.

3. How to Delete Specific Books, Notes, or Vocabulary

  • Delete a Book: In the Library tab, long-press or tap the options menu (⋮) on any book card and select Delete Book. Confirm the dialog to permanently erase the document file, cached chapters, and annotations.
  • Delete a Note or Highlight: In the Notes tab, swipe or tap the trash icon on any annotation to remove it immediately from SQLite.
  • Delete Vocabulary: In the Vocabulary tab, tap delete on any flashcard term to purge it from your SM-2 spaced repetition queue.

4. Permanent Full Erasure (Irrevocable Wiping)

If you wish to permanently destroy all data associated with BookHaven:

Option A: Reset Within BookHaven

Navigate to Settings → Reset Library. Confirm the confirmation prompt to drop and recreate the local SQLite tables and wipe imported book files.

Option B: Native Operating System App Data Clear

  • Android: Open Device Settings → Apps → BookHaven → Storage & Cache → Tap "Clear Storage" / "Clear Data".
  • iOS: Remove the application from your device to erase the app's sandboxed container.

Option C: Application Uninstall

Uninstalling BookHaven automatically causes the operating system to purge the sandboxed app folder, removing 100% of local files and databases.
