Important Notice to Readers

BookHaven is an offline document reader and reader companion. The creators do not curate, review, or endorse literature imported into the app, and generative AI features do not constitute professional advice.

1. Third-Party Document & Literature Disclaimer

BookHaven provides a client-side parser to render e-books and electronic documents. The authors and contributors of BookHaven:

  • Do not review, censor, monitor, or endorse the contents of books or files selected by users.
  • Bear no responsibility or legal liability for any text, opinions, representations, or imagery contained within documents imported by users.
  • All views, philosophies, or statements expressed within loaded literature belong solely to their respective authors and publishers.

2. Generative Artificial Intelligence Notice

BookHaven includes optional client-side AI lookups (definitions, summaries, translations) powered by third-party LLMs (Google Gemini, OpenAI, DeepSeek):

  • Not Ground Truth: Artificial intelligence outputs are generated probabilistically and may contain factual inaccuracies, hallucinations, or biased context.
  • No Professional Advice: AI-generated responses within BookHaven are strictly for personal study and do not constitute certified medical, psychiatric, legal, or financial counsel.

3. Visual Comfort & Reading Ergonomics

Prolonged reading on illuminated mobile, tablet, or computer displays can lead to digital eye strain, ocular dryness, or posture fatigue. Readers are advised to:

  • Practice the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, focus on an object 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds).
  • Enable BookHaven's Warm Sepia or AMOLED Dark reading themes during evening or low-light reading.
  • Scale typography (font size and line spacing) to comfortable dimensions in the in-reader settings sheet.

4. Text-to-Speech (TTS) Engine Notice

The "Read Aloud" feature utilizes your device's native speech synthesis engine. Pronunciations, cadence, and vocal inflections are produced algorithmically by your operating system and may not accurately represent nuanced human narration or poetic meter.
